Anonymous asked: What is a really underrated character of Winona's?
Definitely Siri in The Darwin Awards and Corky in Night on Earth. This is my favorite Winona question…ever. Siri because it was a role where she plays a woman not a girl, a role where I like to see her play more of. And she’s funny which she doesn’t always get to play, and witty. The role also has similarities to her in real life, like the San Fran City Lights bookstore, where Winona in her real life spent most of her life. Her parents had a very small part in the movie as well. I love that character, and it’s sad more people haven’ t seen it. She’s not playing the usual but cute waif that she had in previous films. It was a turn for her.
Corky because she’s a fast talking cab driver, I liked the way she looked at life, and the fact that she…well i don’t want to spoil it if you haven’t seen it. And her scenes are all her as in it doesn’t cut away from her and Gena Rowland. The rest of the film is great too. Again, not a lot of people saw it or talk about it.

This is an image capture I made of one of my favorite movies — Night on Earth by Jim Jarmusch. It was written and directed by Jarmusch in 1991. The film is unique certainly; It follows the lives of five different duos across the globe - from Winona chain smoking from Hollywood to Bel Air to Roberto Benigni in Rome giving confession to a unwilling priest in the back seat (it doesn’t end well for the priest). Each vignette is filmed from the inside of a cab which is sure to please those voyeurs out there. Check it out - It’s on Criterion Collection for goodness sake.
